FENATI NON TROVA LA SCIA, CALO GOMME E CHATTERING FRENANO LA CORSA DEL NUMERO 5

Milano, 11 ottobre 2014. Gara in salita domani al Gran Premio del Giappone per lo Sky Racing Team VR46 sul circuito di Motegi: Romano Fenati (diciassettesimo in 1’57.849) e Francesco Bagnaia (diciottesimo in 1’57.911) partiranno entrambi dalla sesta fila dopo una qualifica complicata nel traffico del “Twin Ring”.

Abituato alle grandi rimonte, Fenati tenterà ancora una volta l’impresa dopo un sabato impegnativo: la terza sessione di prove libere, nella notte italiana, ha visto il pilota numero 5 chiudere in tredicesima posizione con il tempo di 1’57.635, in netto miglioramento rispetto ai primi due turni. Il calo delle gomme sul finale delle qualifiche, unito a qualche problema di chattering e alla difficoltà di trovare la scia, hanno ostacolato la qualifica dell’azzurro, che domani scatterà in griglia con una carica ancora maggiore per lottare tra i primi.

La terza sessione di libere ha visto migliorare anche il tempo di Pecco (1’58.141), deciso a fare bene in gara dopo i rallentamenti nel traffico delle qualifiche.

La Direzione Sky-VR46: “E’ un vero peccato partire dalla sesta fila, sia Romano che Pecco avevano del buon potenziale per poter fare meglio, anche alla luce dei miglioramenti registrati nelle prove libere. Con Romano abbiamo provato a fare un po’ di strategia che purtroppo non ci è riuscita, per lui non è facile perché è un pilota molto forte e nessuno lo tira. Il lato positivo è che abbiamo un buon setting per domani. Non sarà facile perché la gara sarà in salita, ma lui ha già dimostrato più di una volta di avere il potenziale di fare una bella rimonta che speriamo che anche domani sia così”.

ROMANO FENATI: “E’ stata una qualifica complicata. Come spesso accade quest’anno, non sono riuscito a trovare la scia giusta, d’altra parte non c’era nessuno che mi avesse reso le cose facili lì nel traffico. Anche il calo delle gomme verso la fine e il chattering mi hanno impedito di spingere abbastanza. Sarà una gara in salita, ma siamo pronti a combattere per le posizioni che meritiamo”.

FRANCESCO BAGNAIA: “Ci aspettavamo dei miglioramenti più consistenti in qualifica, dato che partivamo con due treni di gomme nuove. Alla fine abbiamo trovato anche poca strada libera, all’ultima uscita sono riuscito a fare il tempo ma non è bastato per raggiungere la posizione di partenza che cercavamo per domani. Sarà una gara impegnativa, ma come sempre ce la metteremo tutta”.

Milan, October 11, 2014. Uphill race tomorrow at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan for the Sky Racing Team VR46 on the Motegi track: Romano Fenati (seventeenth in 1’57.849) and Francesco Bagnaia (eighteenth in 1’57.911) will both get away from the sixth row after a tricky qualifying session in the Twin Ring traffic.

Accustomed to great comebacks, Fenati will attempt once again the undertaking after a demanding Saturday: the third free practice session saw the rider number 5 close in thirteenth position with a time of 1’57.635, a significant improvement compared to the first two rounds. Then the wear and tear on tires during the final part of qualifying, coupled with some chattering problems and the difficulty of finding the tow, hindered the Italian rider’s performance who tomorrow will get away with an even greater lift to try and fight in the front.

In the third free practice session also Pecco improved his time (1’58.141), determined to do well in the race after a qualifying slowed down by the traffic.

La Direzione Sky-VR46: “It’s a real pity to start from the sixth row, both Roman and Pecco had good chances to do better, especially in light of the improvements made during FP sessions. With Romano we tried to put in place a little strategy that unfortunately did not prove successful, it is not easy for him because he is a very strong rider and no one gives him the tow. The good thing is that we have a good setting for tomorrow. It will not be easy, because it will be an uphill race, but he has already shown more than once that he has the potential to make a great comeback and we hope that’s what will happen tomorrow”.

ROMANO FENATI: “It was a tricky qualifying. As it has already happened this year, I could not find the right tow, also because no one made things easy for me in the traffic. Also the wear and tear on tires and the chattering issue prevented me from pushing hard enough. It will be an uphill race, but we are ready to fight for the positions we deserve”.

FRANCESCO BAGNAIA: “We were expecting larger improvements in qualifying, since we were getting away with two new sets of tires. At the end we also found little open road, in the last exit I was able to make the time but it was not enough to reach the starting position we were looking for tomorrow’s race. It will be a tough race, but as always we will give it all”.
