FENATI RIPORTA L’ITALIA ALLA VITTORIA CON LO SKY RACING TEAM VR46
Aragon, 28 settembre 2014. Domenica da sogno per l’Italia della Moto3, che trova la vittoria ancora una volta con lo Sky Racing Team VR46: è Romano Fenati il protagonista del GP di Aragona, dove ottiene il suo quarto successo stagionale conducendo una gara stellare. Venti giri tiratissimi, con il pilota azzurro che rimonta ben 19 posizioni, sorpasso dopo sorpasso fino al traguardo, solo davanti a tutti dopo il testa a testa finale con Alex Marquez.
Con questo, salgono a 2 i Gran Premi spagnoli che hanno visto trionfare Fenati nella stagione in corso (il primo era stato quello di Jerez). Romano scattava dalla tredicesima posizione in quinta fila: dopo un inizio di gara in salita caratterizzato dal traffico, la rimonta ha progressivamente portato il numero 5 a lottare prima per un posto nel gruppo di testa, poi per il gradino più alto del podio.
Francesco Bagnaia, nonostante il dolore al piede sinistro – dove ha subito una frattura in seguito alla caduta di ieri in qualifica -, arriva fino in fondo chiudendo al ventiquattresimo posto.
La Direzione Sportiva VR46: “Romano è tornato a occupare la posizione che merita, grazie a una gara che ha messo in risalto tutte le sue qualità e alla strategia che gli ha permesso di vincere con il passo gara di un campione. È la quarta vittoria di una stagione sorprendente in cui, malgrado gli inevitabili alti e bassi di un primo anno di rodaggio, Romano e il team hanno sempre trovato le motivazioni e la chiave di volta per centrare gli obiettivi. Il primo posto di oggi è merito anche di Rossano Brazzi e della sua squadra, che hanno dato a Romano la moto adatta a gestire una gara difficile come questa. Peccato per Bagnaia, che ha stretto i denti fino alla fine per portare a termine il suo Gran Premio”.
ROMANO FENATI: “E’ stato un inizio di gara difficile, con tutti i piloti che, come sempre, avevano voglia di passare subito davanti. Ho perso molte posizioni con le slick, visto che alcuni tratti della pista erano ancora molto bagnati. Poi, però, ho iniziato a correre sempre di più, con il mio ritmo, solo che quando sono arrivato lì davanti le gomme erano abbastanza usurate. A quel punto ho cercato di rimanere in testa senza strafare e di giocarmela fino alla fine.
Sono davvero contento per questo risultato, non bisogna mai mollare e non lo abbiamo mai fatto. Sono molto positivo e cercherò di mettercela tutta per arrivare il più avanti possibile”.
FRANCESCO BAGNAIA: “E’ stata dura affrontare l’intera gara con il dolore che, nonostante le infiltrazioni, non mi ha mai dato tregua. Devo fare i complimenti al mio team, che ieri ha fatto un grandissimo lavoro per restituirmi una moto all’altezza della situazione. Approfitterò della fase di recupero per tornare in pista ancora più motivato e concentrato sul finale di stagione”.

Aragón September 28, 2014. Enthralling Sunday for Italy on the Moto3 circuit , securing another victory with the Sky Racing Team VR46: Romano Fenati was the protagonist of the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón where he got his fourth success of the season pulling off a stellar race. 20 hard-fought laps, with the Italian rider pulling 19 positions back, overtaking all his opponents until crossing the finishing line, alone in front after the final face-to-face confrontation with Alex Marquez.
Thanks to this win, Romano Fenati’s Moto3 GP tally goes up to 2 in the current season (the first had been the Jerez GP). Romano was getting away from thirteenth position on the fifth row: after a struggling start because of heavy traffic, the number five pulled off an outstanding comeback, competing first in the leading pack and then for the highest step of the podium.
Francesco Bagnaia, despite the pain on his left instep – injured because of a crash during yesterday’s qualifying – got to the very end of the race finishing 24th.
VR46 Sports Management: “Romano was finally back in front where he deserves to be, thanks to a race that emphasized all his qualities and to the strategy that enabled him to win with the race pace of the likes of a real champion. It’s the fourth season of a surprising season where, despite the inevitable ups and downs of a first year of trial stage, Romano and the team always found the right motivation and the keystone to hit the targets. Today’s first place is also down to Rossano Brazzi and to his team who gave Romano a suitable bike to deal with such a challenging situation. Too bad for Bagnaia, who set his teeth and tried hard till the very end to finish his race”.
ROMANO FENATI: “It was a difficult start with all the riders that, as usual, were fighting hard to get to the front. I lost many positions with the slick tires, as a few segments of the track were still then I started to push harder and harder setting my very pace, but when I got to the front, the tires were quite worn out. So I tried to remain in front without overdoing things and by playing all my cards until the very end. I am really happy with this result, one must never quit, and we clearly did not. I am very optimistic and I’ll try my best to get as much ahead as possible”.
FRANCESCO BAGNAIA: “It was very hard to run the whole race with the pain that never let up despite infiltration injections. Congratulations on my team that yesterday did an awesome job to give me a bike up to the situation. I’ll make the most of my recovery phase to get back on track even more motivated and focused for the season final”.
