MOTO 3: COSTRETTO A RALLENTARE NEL TRAFFICO, ROMANO PERDE LA PRIMA FILA NEGLI ULTIMI 10’

Milano, 16 agosto 2014. Qualifiche intralciate da diversi ostacoli per lo Sky Racing Team VR46 sul circuito di Brno. Romano Fenati e Francesco Bagnaia ottengono rispettivamente la quarta e la settima fila al termine di una sessione di qualifica disturbata da interruzioni e traffico, soprattutto negli ultimi dieci minuti.

Prima, Romano schizzava in seconda posizione grazie anche alle soluzioni trovate dal team per la messa a punto della moto, che ieri durante le prove libere era rallentata da problemi di vibrazione sull’anteriore. Fenati, decimo con il tempo di 2’08.461, partirà ancora una volta dalla quarta fila.

Vanificata anche la buona prestazione di Pecco (ventesimo in 2’09.127), costretto sul finale a interrompere il gioco di squadra a causa del traffico malgrado le potenzialità e il buon feeling con la moto.

Il team manager Vittoriano Guareschi: ”E’ stata una qualifica sfortunata, abbiamo il potenziale per ottenere risultati migliori. Traffico, interruzione per bandiera rossa, pioggia: è stata abbastanza complicata questa qualifica. Con Romano abbiamo comunque fatto un grosso passo in avanti, la moto funziona molto meglio. Prima della bandiera rossa era addirittura secondo. Con Pecco dobbiamo continuare a lavorare come fatto ieri, la moto funziona bene. Domani in gara potremo fare bene, siamo soddisfatti della messa a punto, ma non della posizione”.

ROMANO FENATI: “Stiamo migliorando turno dopo turno. In qualifica eravamo secondi a 10’ dalla fine, poi gli altri hanno migliorato il tempo. Sono rimasto indietro a causa del traffico, ma sono molto contento della moto”.

FRANCESCO BAGNAIA: “Sono state delle qualifiche vanificate da bandiera rossa, pioggia e traffico. Non sono mai riuscito a spingere in un giro completo. Nell’unico giro in cui stavo andando forte ero a quattro decimi dalla pole e quindi partire ventesimo non significherà restare in ventesima posizione. Domani sicuramente faremo una gran rimonta, la moto è abbastanza a posto”.

ROMANO’S BIKE TURNS OFF DURING THE WARM UP, HARD FOR HIM TO REGAIN THE FEELING

GOOD START FOR PECCO, REACHING THE 4TH POSITION ONLY TO GO WIDE WITH JUST A FEW LAPS TO GO

Milan, August 17, 2014. Unlucky weekend for the Sky Racing Team VR46, unable to run to the best of its abilities both in the race and in the qualifying session.

At the Bwin Grand Prix České Republiky on the Brno track, Romano Fenati only secured eleventh position after quite a troubled morning: his bike in fact turned off during the warm up and the Italian pilot was forced to shortly regain his feeling with the new set-up.

Great performance by Francesco Bagnaia who, after the Indianapolis GP, was able to get off to a perfect start once again, up to the point of competing for the third spot from the fourth position, but he went wide on a curve with just four laps to go.

The race came after a qualifying session during which both riders failed to get a good time just in the last ten minutes as they were forced to slow down because of the traffic, a red flag and rain.

Team manager Vittoriano Guareschi: “A race that had got off to a good start with both riders in the leading group actually came to a bad end. Unfortunately during this weekend we failed to give Romano a bike that could allow him to compete in the top five. We brought home what we could and in any case he pulled off the fastest lap and gave his best as usual.  We hope we’ll be able to make up for the points we lost today while in Silverstone.

Pecco got off to a good start from the seventh row and in just two laps he managed to get among the top ten. He was running a good race, he regained the confidence he had shown in the first part of the season. Congratulations on him, regardless of the bad luck that affected his performance, but when you are out there competing these things can happen. The most important thing is to be there and then sooner or later efforts will be repaid”.

ROMANO FENATI: “We have been going through problems all the weekend long and this morning’s issues in particular did jeopardize the race. We had to try a new set-up and then we had to get into the race without knowing what would happen. The set-up was not good and we went through a tough race, we defended ourselves as we could. We got some points, but we were not as competitive as we had hoped for”.

FRANCESCO BAGNAIA: “When Enea (Bastianini, editor’s note) threaded his way I went wide in attempt to hold out, I let off the throttle and got off. I missed the chance of standing in front until the very end. Too bad because I was doing a great race: good start, good overtaking. I’m sorry it went like that, but that’s racing. Since last race we have improved a lot and now we must continue on this path”.
