Romano Fenati: “Qua in Texas speravo di portare a casa un buon risultato”.
Epilogo dolceamaro per gli Snipers al COTA, per la terza tappa dell’anno. Dolce è l’ottimo sesto posto di Tony Arbolino, autore di una strepitosa rimonta dalla diciottesima casella. Tony è in un grande stato di forma fisica e mentale e il podio dell’Argentina gli ha sicuramente donato quella marcia in più che gli mancava. Per Tony è un sesto posto che vale come un podio perché il COTA, per lui, è sempre stato il tracciato più ostico del calendario.
Amara è la caduta di Romano Fenati, a 8 giri dal termine, quando stava tentando il tutto per tutto per tornare davanti. Le qualifiche di ieri hanno senza dubbio compromesso la gara di oggi. Partire davanti, avrebbe consentito, ad entrambi, di fare una gara completamente diversa.
Tony Arbolino: “La gara è andata molto bene, sembra strano ma sono quasi più contento dell’Argentina perché, su questa pista, ho sempre faticato. Abbiamo lavorato veramente bene, peccato per la qualifica sul bagnato ma questo sesto podio, a un passo dal podio, mi rende ancora più felice del terzo posto di Termas. Siamo carichi per iniziare la serie delle europee e già a Jerez possiamo tornare a lottare là davanti“.
Romano Fenati: “Avevo immaginato un weekend diverso. Qua in Texas speravo di portare a casa un buon risultato. Questa mattina, nel warm up, ho girato forte ma la partenza, in gara, non è stata delle migliori. Ho fatto fatica i primi giri, poi ho iniziato a spingere per recuperare. A 8 giri dalla fine ho perso il posteriore e sono caduto“.

Bittersweet final for the Snipers at COTA for the third round of the year. Sweet sixth place for Tony Arbolino, author of an amazing comeback from the eighteenth position. Tony has a great mental and physical condition and the podium in Argentina gave him another gear. For Tony this sixth place is like a podium as for him COTA is the more difficult track on the calendar. Bitter crash instead for Romano Fenati that lost the rear 8 laps to end when he was giving his best to come back on the top. The qualifying compromised, without any doubt, the race today. Starting ahead, would have allowed both riders to do a completely different race.
Tony Arbolino: “The race was amazing and it could seem strange but I am happiest than Argentina as, on this track, I always had many difficulties and this sixth position has a great value for me. We worked really well, a shame for the qualifying but this sixth place is for me more important than the third one at Termas. Now we can start the European races motivated and, already from Jerez, we can come back fighting for the first positions“.
Romano Fenati: “I imagined a different weekend here in Texas, I hoped to get a good result. This morning I was very fast in the warm up but I didn’t start so good in the race. The first laps were difficult, then I started to push. Eighth laps to the end I lost the rear and crashed“.
