Fenati a caccia del giusto feeling sulla pista spagnola. Cambio di strategia producente per Migno Montmelò, 12 giugno 2015.

Primo giorno in pista per lo Sky Racing Team VR46 al Gran Premio di Catalogna, con Romano Fenati in cerca del giusto feeling sul tracciato spagnolo – ancora umido durante il primo turno – e Andrea Migno in crescita dopo un cambio di strategia efficace. Il pilota ascolano ha fatto fatica nel corso della prima uscita, anche a causa delle condizioni dell’asfalto, terminando al 13° posto in 1’53.121. Migliore il feeling, e anche i tempi, del numero 5 nel secondo turno, con Fenati sempre nel gruppetto di testa per buona parte delle libere. Poi, dopo qualche difficoltà con il passaggio alla gomma nuova, il pilota ha chiuso 14° in 1’52.237. Bene Andrea Migno: per lui cambio di strategia e 17° posto finale in 1’52.360. Lo step successivo sarà l’ottimizzazione del set up per riuscire a superare le difficoltà lungo le ultime due curve del tracciato.

PABLO NIETO / Team Manager Abbiamo iniziato il weekend lavorando più o meno bene, anche se Romano ha fatto più fatica del solito a trovare il giro veloce e dovremo concentrarci proprio su questo. Quello di cui sono soddisfatto è che, nonostante oggi Romano non abbia brillato, siamo a 0.6, non siamo molto lontani. Sicuramente domenica sarà una gara a 10 come sempre, ma dobbiamo mettere Romano nelle condizioni migliori, affinché abbia il giusto feeling con la moto. Migno oggi ha fatto una prima prova veramente molto buona. Per lui c’è stato un cambio di strategia che gli sta permettendo di andare abbastanza bene, ora dobbiamo andare avanti.

ROMANO FENATI / Pilota Soffriamo un po’ di più la pista di Barcellona. Soprattutto stamattina le condizioni dell’asfalto erano pessime dopo la pioggia delle ore precedenti. Oggi pomeriggio è andata un po’ meglio ma non sono riuscito a sfruttare al meglio la gomma nuova. Penso però che già da domani mattina saremo a posto.

ANDREA MIGNO / Pilota Va meglio, anche se siamo lontani 7 decimi. Andiamo forte su tutta la pista, ma nelle ultime due curve facciamo un po’ fatica, quindi perdo tutto lì. Dobbiamo riuscire a ottimizzare la messa a punto della moto, che comunque va già abbastanza bene e ne siamo felici. Se riusciremo a trovare la quadra sull’ultima parte del tracciato potremo migliorare ancora.

Romano struggled during the FP1 also due to the track conditions and finished in 13th with a 1’53.121. In the afternoon, he managed to improve the feeling and also his times, sticking to the front group for most of the second session. But then, after facing some difficulties because of the shift to the new tyres, he ended in 14th 1’52.237. Next step for him will be trying and fine-tuning the set-up to overcome difficulties in the last two corners of the track. THE TEAM PABLO NIETO / Team Manager We started the weekend fairly well, through the ups and down, even if Romano struggled more than usual to find the fastest lap, so we need to work on that. Even if Romano has not excelled today, we can be happy anyway as we are within 0.6, not that far. Surely Sunday race will be a hard-fought one as always, but we have to put Romano in the best possible conditions, so that he can enjoy the right feeling with the bike. Today Migno pulled off a very good first free practice session. For him we implemented a change in strategy that made him improve, but there is still work to be done. ROMANO FENATI / Rider We have been struggling a bit more on the Barcelona track. Especially in the first practice session the track conditions were awful after the rain that had poured earlier in the morning. In the afternoon, conditions improved and I managed to make the most of the new tyres. I think tomorrow morning we will be okay. ANDREA MIGNO / Rider Things are better now even if we are 7 tenths off. We have been pushing hard throughout the track, except for the last two corners where we are still struggling a bit, that is where I am losing tenths. We have to try and fine-tune the bike set-up that in any case is already quite good but we can still improve it.
